I am very confident that Vietnam will overtake us Malaysia before 2020. Their citizens are having the determination of moving forward and not looking backward.
Do not look down on Vietnam mental strength. Even in chess, they already produced few grandmasters, while we still remain behind with some international master titles only.
What Vietnam did is not comparable to our Oxbridge goon here training racist and mob future leader for the preparation of the 2020.
We should not compare to Vietnam because the standard is too high, we should compare to Afghanistan since we are also in the process of 'Talibanising the nation' and I guess we will reached there before the Afghanistan. Poppy will be our main export in future.
I am not Oxbridge but postgraduate from one of the world's top universities (non Malaysia). I can easily reel off a dozen reasons why Vietnam will overtake us and sooner than you think.
Sleep on Malaysia! I can't imagine any country that foolishly shoots itself in the feet. All the talk about human capital development is humbug - unless if you are thinking of only one race that seems perennially 'behind', decade after decade.
All the Umno politicians for the last 49 years have been perfectly useless not to be able to uplift its own kind.
And all that talk about the BN spirit and solving BN problems closed doors - absolute baloney! Wish I can just pack my bags and leave this swill and hogwash.
Malaysia is happy to be overtaken by any country in the world so long as malays can overtake non-malays in Malaysia. That is the 'Jaguh Kampung' mentality which has guided Malaysia since 1969.
And I glad I am out of this country. I would feel much better when I get citizenship elsewhere. Currently I only have permanent residence. Every single time I see the farce that all these BN idiots come up with - I laugh my ass off.
We will work and strive our hardest to contribute to the country that accepts us as we are regardless of our skin color and race. The funny thing is we are treated more like first class citizens in our adopted country as opposed to being second class citizens in the country we were born in.
Good luck to those who are still stuck in this God-forsaken paradise. Malaysia truly is a beautiful country. Unfortunately it was destroyed by a bunch of nincompoops.
Just look at the red tape in Malaysia, the state sponsored segregation laws, the state of the police force, the education system that is exploited by Umno members to, and how can we forget - the crime rate. Can we be proud?
Patriotism does not mean keeping mum while the government destroys the country. If it is not working, change it. People are the government, choose your right one and don't whine after the next election.
I can bear the above if malays are using their true ability, persistence, intelligence, hard work and other proper means to over the non-malays. But in actual fact, you all know. The malays will bring down this country in no-go time!
Yes, instead of building towers they are building holes in the ground.
I have worked in Vietnam, worked with them, have many I call friends, and I will tell you this - It is not a question of it but when! In fact we don't have to look at Vietnam, Thailand will likely achieve Vision 2020 which we already know we will fail.
2:29 AM
The non-malays have heard this one before - If you think that Malaysia not good, please go out this country.
Umno has been brought up to think they are the prince of the land.
Every time they get cornered, Umno will tell the other race to go out where they belong. I think Umno must change their thinking or they will pull down the country to the middle age.
So far there is no Umno leader that can lead them to be modern 21st century citizens.
Rather Umno is anti this or anti that. There is no forward looking and thinking to break free perspective.
Malaysia developed nation on year 2020?
The problem with Malaysia ministers is that they are mostly underachievers academically!
That is the reason why they simply speak without logic and reasons. This is also the very reason that I admire Lim Kit Siang, Karpal etc, who can debate intelligently with those monkeys who never bother to understand what is uttered.
Just compare the resume of Malaysia ministers with that from our southern neighbour! Then you will understand.
I know their prime minister has a first class honors in science from Cambridge if I am not mistaken. The rest of his cabinets are very highly qualified. Hence you don't hear nonsense from them.
For your information, some Malaysia ministers would not be at all qualified for even an assistant post!
Our country leaders, not necessary meaning the prime minister, but overall people in power, people of authority etc, have no self respect, no moral, no integrity, and most of no responsibility and accountability.
Let us not compare with other countries, as no countries have perfect leaders, but what they have is integrity.
When they do something wrong and they know it is wrong, nobody need to tell them to resign, they won't say our Malaysia usual line "Nobody can resign me except the prime minister" - we should call this the ball-less line.
If you have integrity and honest enough, you should just resign.
This is why Malaysia is moving backward. With this kind of ministers who are not willing to tackle the root of the issue, but instead blaming others for exposing bad news and sweeping things under the carpet - what hope can you foresee for Malaysia in the future!
Perhaps we should have "Look Africa" policy, rather than "Look East" policy - since a lot of things are similar between Malaysia and African countries except oil.
Singapore has shown us that if the government plan properly and harness all the human talents and resources, a small country without much natural resources can be better than a big country with lots of natural resources.
We all started equal, RM1 = S$1, but see what happen now.
MSA = MAS and SIA. See the difference?
If we continue to ignore human talents and resources, by year 2020, the two countries will be even further apart!

In fact, if you look at all the topics in this board, every topic, every scandal, every issue, every educational ills, can be traced to the break down of the key values. The whole of opposition's work in parliament revolve around these 4 key values.
I don't blame Pak Lah for the break down of these values. I blame Mahathir for the systematic destruction of those values in his 22 years reign.
What are these values that I am talking about?
M eritocracy
A ccountability
T ransparency
I ntegrity
During TAR, Abdul Razak and Hussein Onn days, these values were still very much alive. But now they are all dead. If these values are not revived soon enough, it will be the death of Malaysia.
I hope I will not have to see this obituary - the death of Malaysia was due to the death of MATI.

I am currently studying in the Australia, I grew up with the slogan "Malaysia Truly Asia" - however, this is not true, it seems more like "Australia Truly Asia" and let me explain why I think so - when I first landed here, I saw a multi-cultural society consisting of people from various ethnic backgrounds.
It doesn't even matter if the person has landed on the moon, you will only be awarded if you can prove that you deserve it. Your well being here depends on who you are (your personality), and what you can contribute!
Unlike Malaysia, where opportunities are given to the malays, regardless of what they are worth of. Shame! As a Malaysia citizen myself, I am ashamed to tell fellow Australia citizens that I am from Malaysia, because they all know that people like malays are given privileges.
The malays have no pride in themselves and that is why they will never ever be able to compete on a level playing field. There is so much discrimination among the other races that there is no sense of pride whatsoever in being a Malaysian.
Your eyes are open now because you are in the Australia. That is the difference between a developed country and a third world dump!

Our Malaysia BN government is apartheid, corrupted and racist. Decisions are made for a few and a specific group and not for the masses. Period.
40 years ago Singapore left Malaysia. A little red dot with no natural resources has become a country which enables its citizens to average a per capita income six times that of Malaysia, based on foreign exchange rate.
The success story was made possible because the civil servants of Singapore are not corrupted, the ministers are not corrupted, and also the police are not corrupted.
Ministers in Malaysia may be paid RM300000 a year, but they live in palatial dwellings. Apparently, the ministers here only do part time job for their positions, and spend the rest of the time doing business. Is there no rule to prohibit minister doing business?
If there is, then it is easy enough to check whether their salaries and allowances could provide them the wealth and lifestyle. If not, then there is clear evidence of moonlighting.
Even though Malaysia ministers are paid maybe one-sixth that of their Singapore counterparts, Malaysia ministers are really Boleh in accumulating wealth. Either they earn it themselves, or they have especially gifted siblings or off-springs.
Without substantial inheritance to start with, there are many siblings and off-springs of past and current ministers who have accumulated hundreds of millions or billions in matter of years.
When ministers have such rich relatives, they are naturally surprised that price increase in ringgit and sen should arouse those "uncalled for reactions" such as what happened last time. The incident was a threat to the "Semuanya ok" image of Malaysia and had to be dealt with sternly.
If only Malaysia had uncorruptable ministers, then with our natural resources we should have at least the same level of per capita income as Singapore. If only the people subscribed to Malaysian Malaysia back then, we will not have to be so concerned about the price increase now.
Due to poor financial management of previous leader, the old man, the current government is running in deficit, thus the increase and change lifestyle. Most of the thing we buy today is not value for money.
A crooked people will vote for government that build crooked bridge. So as a corrupted people will vote for corrupted government. It is democracy, incompetence government reflects its incapable people. Wake up, Malaysians.
Most of government's subsidies were channeled back to support those Ali Babas, corporate bailouts for MAS and Proton, cronies, lazy-to-work entrepreneurs, university students with few As, and etc.
What is the use of saving government subsidies on oil? So that Umno leaders can buy more luxury cars and feed their cronies?
This is the corrupted lifestyle of BN politicians and their cronies. They should change their lifestyle first before asking the people to change! They are doing unimaginable damage to this country and its future through their arrogance, corruption, and sheer incompetence!
50 years is enough because we do not choose you to tell us "change our lifestyle". The BN government is not admitting its mistake in mismanagement of public fund.
Najib and all Umno leaders are living in a different world altogether. They do not have the slightest inkling about the pains the people have to bear. They are filthy rich. Without empathy, how can the leaders think of the sufferings of the people!
Suffice to say, the affluent are much too detached from the realities of ordinary people to empathise with the struggles of daily living and therefore, make nonsensical comments about a paradise not known to many simple Malaysians.
How many more years do we have to put up with this shitty thing call BN. Gosh……….50 years is damn long, enough is enough.
Yes, let us change lifestyle once and for all by changing the government - that make perfect sense.

Loss billion is just another number to the Umno grassroots, and to the uneducated or to the uninformed. As long as the country is still standing, the voters will continue to be conned into voting for BN at every general election.
We can shout until we are blue in the face - in the parliament or in the alternative media - but when BN control the mainstream press and blatantly suppress such information, then there is little hope that such scandals will see the light of day.
Only when a calamity occurs to this country which brings the country to its knees could we see a real revolution. This calamity could be economic or could be political. Why do you think the RM is still a "controlled" currency with no convertibility outside of Malaysia?
All this is now history. But unfortunately only a tiny percentage of Malaysians know about this dark side of the Mahathir era. The masses have no inkling that this happened and many still think of Mahathir as the greatest economic genius who saved the country from the evil West, when he is in fact an economic moron.
I think we should stop using Bolehland. Bodohland run by Bodoh people would be much more appropriate. Even if they did not have the intention to cheap, they are obviously very naïve and stupid.
A little learning is a dangerous thing. I simply find so many of them around holding important positions today. That is why scandal must repeat itself.

Malaysia is suddenly realizing that its competitiveness has slipped. This is the final expression of a failed education system. Unless steps are taken to broaden its access, improve the quality, increase its relevance, and reduce the inequities, Malaysia will remain poorly served.
Here is a paradoxical example I wish to share. In my years of higher education at a private college, I've always thought that we should do more than just what is presented on our plates. Unfortunately, the lecturers themselves are the ones that aren't inspiring us to think critically.
I had problems securing jobs with MNCs in Malaysia but got accepted to work for Singapore based-US banking firm after sitting for the IQ test. None of my ex-coursemates are jobless and a handful is working for MNCs in Singapore. Go figure.
Crony capitalism and nepotism also filtering down the Malaysia corporate culture. Senior managers have no pride in work. More interested in keeping position and power. To hell with initiative.
Senile Mahathir is still acting as if he is in control of Bolehland. Please, will someone tell him to shut up! The Malaysia media seem happy to humour a senile old man. He blames everybody. When he started off he appeared genuinely working for the country. Along the way he changed. That is the reason why the country is in such a mess.
Just look at Proton, he is continuingly trying to make sure the poor company get protected and ask Malaysians to pay high prices and received a poor quality car! Fortunately his time is up!
And majority Malaysians believe him because they are ignorant. Malaysians are not stupid, but ignorant because of the controlled press. They are not allowed to seek knowledge from the press, only useless information.
More RTM programmes out of touch with reality, pea-brained, featuring badly dressed, bush jacket wearing goons sitting in a row discussing topics nobody is interested in all set against a backdrop that is reminiscent of induced color hallucination?
Thank you for the Internet so that we know what is happening and not be ignorant like we used to be.
The only time a country does not seek the best deal for itself is when the country is corrupt and the leaders want to make money at the expense of the people.
It is ridiculous. No right thinking person would accept that except the malays. Even Singapore island also they can give away. Who knows the next move they might as well give Penang away. Just imagine how weak and stupid the malays are.
I did the same thing too. Being friends with other races is a funny way of seeing how narrow-minded we are sometimes. There are moments when I catch myself from saying certain things to my malay friends but have no problems saying them to my non-malay friends.
I am not having a go at the Chinese, I am just saying that it is only corrupt leaders who do friendly deals. In straight commercial terms, Singapore is miles ahead and good for it. The Singaporeans are smart, intelligent and not ignorant.
One thing is for sure; we speak because I believe we want to make this country work. If not, then as some of you say here, there are plenty of other places willing to take us.
But you got to give some credit to those guys, they were able to speak up which many of us lack.

My school in the 50s and 60s when terms like bumi and non-bumi did not exist.
Back then, there was a kind of kindred among school children then that does not exist today. We were racially different but we were all equal in every other way. Nobody was 'special'.
Today when a non-malay student goes to school, he has already been told over and over again by his parents that, 'You will have to do superlatively in order to get into a local university.'
The child comes back having done creditably well, and doesn't get the university course of his choice. But his malay classmate, with worse marks than him, gets more than he asked for.
All these double standards and retrogressive policies were put in place by our selfish politicians whose aim, rather than uplifting the malays, was to perpetually stay in power for their own good.
The end result is a new generation of Malaysians who are not united in the least.
The first thing to be done towards a real Bangsa Malaysia is to pull down all divisions that categorise us along racial and religious lines.
All, irrespective of race and religion, must be subjected to a truly merit-based system in every sphere of Malaysian life.
All political parties that exploit any form of religion should be banned.
2:45 AM
Fine, I can look past that, malays can have their special right, but not to the point of causing plenty displeasure and plain unfairness to other races. It is like we are second rate citizens of this country. It is no wonder non-malays don't feel that patriotic about this country, who can blame them?
What we want here, we have to work our asses off, and we can't expect help from the government, only private and corporate companies. Hell even corporate companies have to stick to quota, that already limit our options already.
NEP my ass! It is making the poor malays poorer! It is not creating opportunity but a generation of subsidy addicts!
The five-years plan contains no paradigm shift. It is a continuation of many of the failed ideas of the past.
Something must be wrong when a policy fails to meet its target, not once but twice. More so, when in recent years, the share of bumi ownership in the corporate sector has not increased one iota. It was 18.9 percent in 2000. It was 18.9 percent in 2004.
Worse still, the share of equity ownership held by Indians has declined - from 1.5 percent to 1.2 percent - during this period. Until and unless we examined why we failed in meeting these targets, we may not achieve them at all.
What all of you have said is pure facts - from public transports to media, to licenses for business, to corruption of the top officials, Malaysia isn't democratic as what we initially thought or rather make to believe - Malaysia is of no hope.
Australia must be a lovely place to live (emigration), but then some of us haven't been to Europe. Learning a new language must be very difficult for most people let alone speak so many languages. So the world could be more open for you than for others.
With very good command in knowledge of law as well as loads of courage, it is not impossible to find there - are us out there, that is brave enough to voice out our objection in topic like this.
2:47 AM
I think most people have missed the real issue in the Mahathir vs. Abdullah dispute.
Although there is some truth to Mahathir's assertion that Abdullah is weak and indecisive, ultimately it all boils down to one issue - a dispute over whose relatives and cronies benefit from the government treasury.
Mahathir is upset because his cronies have been largely left out in the current dispensation. At the end of the day, that is all there is to it.
Abdullah had a wonderful opportunity, when he took office, to set things right after 22 years of Mahathir indifference to business ethics.
Sadly, he has not only perpetuated most of the harmful policies of his predecessor, but there is a case to be made that he has even surpassed the wily and corrupt doctor.
2:49 AM
The earlier we abolish race-based political parties and promotes multi-racial parties like Keadilan and DAP the better we'd live.
49 years is a very, very long time to be fooled.
It seems that racism in this country has now becomes a BN government sanctioned policy. It is no wonder that we saw the type of behaviour demonstrated in UPM.
As usual, we don't hear a squeak from the component parties in defense of our civil liberty. How about bar, man?
I am all for the support of multi-racial parties which is not based on racism or ketuanan. In a globalize world, ketuanan could really just end up as Jaguh Kampung.
Other than garnering grassroots support, I don't see how else we can compete with the upcoming Vietnam, the rising India and the awakened dragon of China. Welcome to the globalize world where information is just at the click of the mouse!
Our universities are meant to promote academic excellence, to enhance independent thinking, to create new ideas and many others. To brainwash our freshmen with hatred and anti-Semitic talks are totally an unacceptable and idiot measure!
Fresh innocent souls are being misled and confused. Eventually those wiser youths will realise the whole sham and hypocrisy. They will emigrate leading to brain drain which the BN government is all out to promote relentlessly. Malaysia Boleh!
No wonder there are so much racism in the universities nowadays. Look who is playing religious and racial issues! Why hate Jews? They had so many towering personalities and are much smarter than those pro keris waving fanatics.
They even have globally ranked universities whereas ours are a shame. We should be emulating their success. I would have no more hope for Pak Lah and can only wish that he is a one-term prime minister.
This activity of USM is highly racial and deplorable. Time and again, MIC and MCA have shown themselves to be political puppets and eunuchs of Umno.
A vote for MIC or MCA is a vote for the likes of Khairy, Hisham, and all those Umno-malays who sideline and discriminate the non-malay communities whom have sacrificed so much for Malaysia.
The racial politics of Umno has no place in Malaysia, or for that matter any country in the world.
2:52 AM
Don't waste your breath. They BN steal the country blind, they strike deals amongst themselves so that all of them can stick their hands into the country's till, then they fight amongst themselves when one group doesn't get to steal as much as another group.
Then to divert attention, they blame the Chinese. The Chinese parties are told, "Hey, don't worry, all this is for show only, you can continue to feed off the crumbs from the table." and the circus continues.
They announce programs to help the poor, then they take them away through robberies like medicine labeling. They own private hospitals, so it is in their interests to let public hospitals deteriorate.
Make no mistake about it - the hardcore poor are still mainly from one race, and unfortunately they are being conned into voting these thieves back in at every election.
49 years of independence? It is more like 49 years of growing independence for Umno selfish and unilateral ambitions for one community. And 49 years of deterioration for the MCA and MIC into mere puppets in the BN.
MCA and MIC are no more effective in defending the rights of the minority communities in Malaysia, as they are easily overpowered and silenced by Umno every time there is an interracial issue.
A vote for MCA or MIC is effectively a vote for Umno. It is better for MCA and MIC to leave BN, in order to represent their communities more effectively.
Wahoo! MCA Youth demands "apology" from Khairy for playing the racial card. Excellent leadership it may seem but wait a moment………They are saying that they have always been obedient and servile to their master (Umno) and now their loyalty is been doubted.
MCA is one of the main reasons for the systemic problem prevailing in Malaysia. So don't bloody pretend you are able to stand up for meritocracies.
With the increasing arrogance, greed and selfishness of Umno, with the MCA and MIC relegated to puppet status, less than a few percent of non-malay taxpayers money return to their own community.
Almost all of non-malay taxpayers money goes into projects that benefit and enrich the malay community. This is set to worsen in the years to come. BN is a racist party and does not deserve any support from the non-malays for all the injustices it has done to them. Off the soapbox.
49 years, we have our independence from the British. But think about it more intensely. Are you sure that we have really got our independence!
At the beginning, Tunku had led us to the independence. But after that era, the Umno who inherited power from Tunku turned around and form the new breed of "colonial master".
In the name of various beautifully sounding policies. The new colonial master is more interested to channel goodies into its own exclusive elite members. Except for some miserable spillover, all really deserving poor irrespective of races hardly receive any thing.
The problem is most people think joining the opposition is a suicide and we should just become always contain and feed the lion and its herd so we might not be eaten.
Young educated Malaysians must now rise up and be responsible to our country before things go out of hand! If we can't criticise our government and they are always in a state of denial - change them - nothing to lose.
